There’s something rather magical about beginning the day with a Blueberry Smoothie Bowl that’s every shade of summer!

This Blueberry Smoothie Bowl is thick, creamy, and bursting with sweet berries, wholesome oats, and a handful of nourishing plant ingredients. It’s the kind of breakfast that feels almost like dessert, somewhere between a smoothie and a bowl of homemade blueberry ice cream, but leaves you feeling wonderfully satisfied.

The frozen blueberries create a beautiful, deep violet color that always reminds me of early morning walks through the garden when everything is still cool and covered in dew. Add a few fresh herbs from the garden, scatter some seeds over the top, perhaps a handful of edible flowers, and of course, herbs, and breakfast becomes something beautiful, rather than something hurried on the way out the door.
I’ve added rolled oats to make this smoothie bowl a little heartier than a traditional smoothie, making it perfect for slow summer mornings or busy weekdays when you need breakfast to keep you going.
How to Make a Blueberry Smoothie Bowl
Smoothie bowls couldn’t be simpler.
Add all of the ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until thick, smooth, and completely creamy.
The secret to a proper smoothie bowl is using as little liquid as possible. Start with about ⅓ cup plant milk, blending until smooth before adding a splash more if needed. The mixture should be thick enough to eat with a spoon rather than drink through a straw.
Spoon into your favorite bowl and enjoy the best part—decorating it with beautiful toppings.
Plant Magic Topping Ideas:
Every bowl becomes its own little work of art. Mix and match your favorites.
- Fresh blueberries or seasonal berries
- Sliced banana or juicy peaches
- Hemp hearts
- Chia seeds
- Pumpkin or sunflower seeds
- Homemade granola
- Toasted coconut flakes
- Chopped almonds, walnuts, or pecans
- Fresh mint or lemon balm leaves
- Edible flowers such as violas, calendula, nasturtiums, or borage
No two bowls ever need to be the same, and that’s part of the magic. Use what the season offers, what your garden is growing, and whatever makes you smile first thing in the morning.
Pin it for Later!

One of my favorite things about smoothie bowls is how endlessly adaptable they are. Blueberries are wonderful, but don’t stop there. Try raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, or mixed berries, depending on what’s in season. If you’d like a little extra sweetness, frozen mango or pineapple, or peaches blend beautifully with the berries.
